Meet Brook Atkinson

I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I attended the University of Alabama for undergrad and received my BA in psychology, with a minor in sociology. After graduation, I took a few years off to travel and work as a nanny. In 2016, I moved to Athens for graduate school, where I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.

I worked as a therapist for children and adolescents with behavioral disorders once I finished graduate school, then a counselor at an addiction treatment center here in town. I then moved on to become Montessori certified and worked as a lead teacher for three years. I’ve always been a people person and enjoy helping others. This I attribute to my dear mother, who had a heart of service and lived to help those in need.

I believe that my life experiences, combined with professional and educational experiences, have set me up to love working in criminal defense. I can use many tenants and principals of my MSW, and I greatly appreciate the advocacy for others that is such an important part of this field. I have learned so much since working for Adam and I look forward to continuing to learn as I move forward in my career as a paralegal.
